We hit the road for our first family road trip on November 5, 2018 and didn’t come back until November 19, 2018. The journey took us through 2 countries, 10 states, 9 different hotels and motels, and a total of 2800 miles were driven in the 15 days. We did all of this on a budget and a two year old and ended up having an absolute blast. There are so many little stories with this trip – like Leo picking up a dead squirrel to play with in Boston Commons… me getting our car stuck in the snow in the White Mountains of New Hampshire… emergency bathroom breaks in the woods… passing through towns in Maine that were smaller than the street we live on in Cincinnati, Ohio… almost everything being closed for the season in Maine and having to improvise on fun things to do on the fly… and the weather being way colder than any of us packed for…. but it brought us all close. And we ended up doing things we never expected to do. Like ending the trip at the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Plymouth Rock and feeling like we’d come full circle. And well, if adventure ever needed a definitely, this trip is it.
